NEW CASTLE, Del. (AP) - Vice president Joe Biden and Housing and Urban Development Secretary Julian Castro joined Delaware officials in honoring veterans who have served in America’s military.

Biden and Castro joined Gov. Jack Markell, Sens. Tom Carper and Chris Coons, and other officials Friday for the state’s annual Veterans Day ceremony in New Castle.

Also taking part in the ceremony were participants in the Mayors Challenge to End Veteran Homelessness.

In his weekly message, Markell noted that Delaware committed last year to ending and preventing homelessness among veterans in the state.

Markell says that after more than a year’s work involving local, state and federal partners, officials have effectively ended veteran homelessness in Delaware.
