BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) - Police are investigating after they say a family’s cat was found dead and hung in a tree in a Vermont park.

Burlington Police Department Deputy Chief Shawn Burke said Wednesday that a person walking through Starr Farm Park spotted the dead adult cat hanging by its neck from a wire attached to a tree limb on Nov. 1.

WPTZ-TV reports that the family wasn’t notified until later because the cat, named Tiki, wasn’t wearing tags.

Police say they’re offering a $500 reward for information leading to the arrest of whoever is responsible.
