ALEXANDRIA, Va. (AP) - A Northern Virginia high school has led the nation in the number of perfect scores achieved on Advanced Placement exams this year.

The Washington Post reports (https://wapo.st/2ea5KSJ) that Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology in Alexandria garnered six perfect AP scores - two each on tests in computer science, Spanish and U.S. government and politics.

The College Board, which runs the AP program, says three high schools recorded five perfect scores.

Achieving a perfect score on an AP exam is rare. Of 163,405 students who took the Spanish language and culture exam in May, 108 got a perfect score. There were 25 perfect scores in U.S. government and politics, out of 296,778 test takers, and 10 in computer science, out of 58,141.
