NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) - New Haven police have charged a Hamden woman they say shot another woman during a violent dispute.
Officers responded to Yale New Haven Hospital at about 1:15 a.m. Tuesday after staff reported that a woman had been dropped off for treatment of a gunshot wound. The victim told investigators she had been shot inside her own apartment.
The suspect, identified as 35-year-old Nayamka Jackson, was taken into custody when she showed up at police headquarters later in the morning. She is charged with first-degree assault, reckless endangerment and unlawful discharge of a firearm.
The victim was grazed in the abdomen by a bullet. She was treated and released.
It was not immediately clear if Jackson had a lawyer.
