OPINION:
Kudos to Ed Feulner for his op-ed opposing early voting (“Election fraud is no myth,” Web, Oct. 31). Thomas Jefferson stated that “Democracy demands an educated and informed electorate.” Well, the millions of voters casting ballots prior to Nov. 8 are only partially educated and informed.
I would not trust a movie critic who never watched the final 15 minutes of a movie. I would not trust a sportswriter who never stayed for the final inning of a game. There is something very special about voting on election day. You stand in line with your fellow Americans, all of whom are ready to mark their ballots. You see children and grandchildren there to witness democracy in action. Many of us recall the sacrifices made by those who came before us to make election day possible and so special. On Nov. 8, we have chosen a new government for and by the people. It feels like the Fourth of July on an autumn day.
