Earlier this year she tweeted a close-up shot of genitalia to conservative bloggers and attacked former Alaska governor Sarah Palin, suggesting she should be gang-raped.

But it was reportedly a stream of homophobic and racist tweets at Zayn Malik which caused the microblogging service Twitter to suspend rapper Azealia Banks’s account on Thursday.

Mr. Malik is British of Pakistani ethnic heritage. In March he released a solo album entitled “Mind of Mine” which includes “Intermission: Flower,” a song sung entirely in Urdu, his father’s native tongue.
