A man handling a toy “Star Wars” lightsaber in the parking lot at Farmingdale State College caused a large police response Wednesday morning after someone reported a man with a rifle.

A campus-wide lockdown lasted less than a half-hour as Suffolk and Nassau police investigated the call, Long Island Business News reported.

Students and faculty received an email at 10:25 a.m. from the college stating: “Due to a situation on campus, all faculty, staff, and students are advised to shelter in place.”

The students received an email less than a half-hour later stating: “The police situation on campus has been resolved without incident. All students, faculty, and staff should resume normal activities.”

Police concluded the man only had a lightsaber in his car and posed no threat to anyone around him.

There were no arrests or injuries reported.
