Gov. John Kasich wasted little time trying cash in on his Ohio win.

Minutes after the race was called for him, Mr. Kasich blasted out a fundraising email touting his home state victory - his first win in the 2016 GOP presidential race.

“Tonight’s big win in Ohio proved that Americans are tired of the negative tone of this election cycle,” Mr. Kasich said in the email. “As we get more exposure, Americans are joining our campaign in droves because we’re the ONLY campaign focused on solutions and bringing people together.”

Your ongoing support is critical!” he said, asking for people to chip in $25 or more. “Let’s win and not only defeat Trump but unify our party and defeat Hillary Clinton this fall,” he said.

The fundraising note went out shortly after Mr. Kasich shot down the idea in an interview with CNN that his campaign is cash-strapped.

“I will have all the money we need,” he said.
