The Powerball jackpot continued to build Wednesday, five weeks since the last big winner, as officials drew for an estimated $123.6 million prize.
The winning numbers were 37-69-12-25-60, with the red Powerball being 20.
If taken as a lump sum, as most recent big lottery winners have chosen to do, the $123 million prize would be worth $81.8 million. Federal taxes would quickly take almost 40 percent of that amount, with state taxes a possibility on top of that.
The $2 Powerball tickets are sold in 44 states, along with the District of Columbia and some U.S. territories.
