OPINION:
As reported in The Washington Times, 11 states are suing the federal government over the Obama administration’s mandate that all public schools offer gender-neutral access to bathrooms, locker rooms and even shower areas (“11 states sue Obama administration over federal transgender school-bathroom directive,” Web, May 25). Under this policy schools that don’t comply could be subject to the withholding of federal funds. I am grateful that my home state of Alabama is one of the 11 taking a stand against this absurd policy.
What a shame that our president places such significance on this issue. It is not helping the gender-confused, as intended. Instead it will encourage opportunities for promiscuousness and possibly rape. Obama has said the policy is in the best interest of the children. Which children, President Obama? Would it be in the best interest of your daughters to use shower and locker rooms to which teenage boys have access?
Surely the president’s efforts to achieve a utopian, non-discriminatory society would be better directed at protecting the millions of lives of children aborted each year, or at helping to prevent religious people around the world from being slaughtered by the Islamic State.
These would be worthy goals, but unfortunately this administration’s focus has been to champion people based on sexual preference while abandoning the unborn and people of faith.
