A Florida woman used a .22 caliber handgun to shoot a home intruder who was naked and covered in his own excrement.
Officials in Northwest Ocala arrived at a 57-year-old woman’s home on Sunday after a 911 call to find Victor Alex Etherington shot in the abdomen. The 27-year-old man was drunk when he kicked in the homeowner’s front door, chased her into a bedroom, and opened a closet she used as a hiding space.
The Marion County Sheriff’s Office told a local ABC affiliate on Monday that Mr. Etherington had “defecated” in his pants at some point during the break-in. The man lived in the home 12 years ago.
“The intruder ended up with no clothes on in her bedroom,” Lauren Lettelier of the Marion County Sheriff’s Office told the station.
Mr. Etherington was taken to Ocala Regional Medical Center for surgery. Charges are pending as he recovers in the facility’s Intensive Care Unit.
The victim’s husband is a reserve deputy in the area. Her name and the 911 call have not yet been released to the public.
