President Obama will travel to Orlando on Thursday in the wake of the deadly terrorist attack at a nightclub there earlier this week.
Mr. Obama will travel to Orlando “to pay his respects to victims’ families, and to stand in solidarity with the community as they embark on their recovery,” White House press secretary Josh Earnest said in a statement.
Omar Mateen, 29, opened fire at an Orlando nightclub early Sunday morning, killing 49 people and wounding 53 others in the worst mass shooting in modern U.S. history.
Mr. Obama had been scheduled to campaign with presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton in Wisconsin on Wednesday, but the Clinton campaign postponed the event in light of the attack.
