A lockdown was lifted at the U.S. Capitol Friday morning after people were barred from entering the building for 40 minutes.
Capitol Police have not released details about the situation, but The Hill newspaper reported that two lawmakers said they heard someone snuck past security with a firearm.
The lockdown comes a little more than three months after Capitol Police shot and wounded a gunman at a security checkpoint at the Capitol Visitor Center complex after he brandished a weapon. In that March 28 incident, no officers were injured, but a female bystander received minor injuries and was treated at a hospital.
