President Obama expressed condolences Wednesday to German Chancellor Angela Merkel over recent terrorist attacks and other violence in southern Germany.
In a phone call, Mr. Obama offered Germany full U.S. support as the investigations proceed, the White House said.
“The leaders reaffirmed the necessity of close U.S.-German counterterrorism and broader security cooperation,” the statement said. They also discussed the importance of ending aggression in eastern Ukraine by separatists backed by Russia.
In the latest attack, on Sunday, a Syrian immigrant detonated a bomb, killing himself and injuring 15 people. A gunman in Munich killed nine people last week.
