Derrick Todd Lee, a serial killer convicted of the murders of two women and linked to the deaths of five others, died Thursday at a Louisiana hospital. He was 47.
The cause of death was not immediately known. An autopsy will be performed.
Lee was transported from the Louisiana State Penitentiary in Angola on Saturday for emergency care, CNN reported.
Lee was on death row for the 2002 murder of 22-year-old Charlotte Murray Pace. He was also convicted of second-degree murder in the 2002 death of 21-year-old Geralyn DeSoto.
He was linked to the murders of five other women but did not face trial in those cases.
