A Georgia forklift operator was shot to death in a home invasion Thursday just months after winning a nearly half-million-dollar lottery jackpot.

Craigory Burch Jr., 20, died from gunshot wounds at a home on Stubbs Avenue in Fitzgerald, a local NBC News affiliate reported.

Investigators said Burch’s girlfriend was inside the home at the time and ran for help.

No arrests have been made.

Burch had just won a $434,272 Fantasy 5 jackpot in November. His friends said he had recently used some of his winnings to buy Christmas presents for people in need, NBC reported.

After winning the jackpot, Burch said, “I knew that I would come into money,” according to a Georgia Lottery news release. “I couldn’t believe it at first. I was stunned. I’m still overwhelmed.”

Investigators did not reveal any suspects in Burch’s murder. Anyone with information is advised to call the Ben Hill County Sheriff’s Office at 229-426-5161.
