OPINION:
I imagine that if Americans had their way, candidates for political office would simply explain their views and how those views would be turned into implementable ideas. There would be no attacks on other candidates and little for the media to carry on about. Elections would be more interesting than worrisome and agitating, and citizens would be able to make comparisons and vote accordingly.
As it is now, some confusion over the candidates persists because it is difficult to separate lies from truth. Like some other voters, I distrust the establishment because its members’ promises seldom materialize. Judging by their accomplishments candidates Carly Fiorina, Ben Carson or Ted Cruz would do the most good for this country. However, I’m not throwing the Trump card away just yet.
Mr. Trump would win easily if he spoke in a more presidential manner and explained the tactics he would employ to solve the big problems we face as a nation, as well as how his methods would align with our constitutional values. In keeping with the tenets set forth in the Constitution, our next president will need enough guts to undo much of the mischief that has been unwisely done with self-proclaimed power.
I’ve voted for Democrats in the past, but that was before they began calling the Constitution a “living document” whenever their intention was to subvert it. A “living document” affords us no protection because it changes with the ideas of the president in power at the time. We are seeing the effects of that today, and we want it to stop. That’s my reason to vote for an ’outsider’ come November. Elections are a big enough deal to bend a knee for, especially with our world on fire.
