The Mavericks

“Mono”

Valory

Roots, samba, salsa, ska and other sounds collide on this upbeat album from The Mavs. “All Night Long” is a groovy opener followed by the happy-go-lucky “When I’m With You.” “Pardon Me” is reminiscent of Roy Orbison, while “Stories We Could Tell” and “What You Do (To Me)” are ska-tastic party anthems. “Out the Door” makes breaking up fun, “Fascinate Me” is a hymn to love, and then “Nitty Gritty” brings the album to a joyous close.

Mavericks’ frontman Raul Malo will be performing solo at The Birchmere in Alexandria, Viriginia, Jan. 27 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $35 by going to Birchmere.com.
