OPINION:
As the “war” declared on immigrants continues in this country, natural-born citizens of The United States are having their rights trampled. I, for one, am growing tired of having to produce a birth certificate at the age of 62 just to prove I am a citizen of my birth country.
I relocated from Florida to Arizona and went to the Department of Motor Vehicles to change my legal Florida-issued driver’s license to an Arizona license, and to register to vote. I also presented my legal Florida-issued voter information card.
However, I was denied the new license and voter registration because Arizona wanted more proof that I was an American. I asked the clerk why it was that I had been declared an American in Florida but could not yet be considered an American in Arizona.
I misplaced my birth certificate and must now request a copy out-of-state. Due to the denial at the DMV, I missed the deadline to register to vote, and so will now be denied my right to vote in the Arizona primary.
Politicians so easily spew their rhetoric but as usual only have half-baked plans.
