FLORENCE, Ariz. (AP) - Officials say tap water in Arizona’s Pinal County is once again safe for infants to drink.
The Arizona Department of Environmental Quality on Friday warned county residents who get water from Johnson Utilities to refrain from giving it to babies after test results showed high levels of nitrate. The department removed that advisory Tuesday after a sample collected on Nov. 30 met federal standards for nitrate levels.
Providing water high in nitrate to infants or using it in formula could be bad for their health, even if it is boiled.
ADEQ said in a statement that it received confirmation from Johnson Utilities that the recent water sample met drinking standards and was analyzed using certified analytical methods.
