PATERSON, N.J. (AP) - Paterson police have shot and wounded a man who allegedly shot at officers when they responded to a reported domestic violence incident at a city apartment building.

The shooting occurred around 1 p.m. Friday in a second-floor unit.

A woman who lives there called police, who eventually broke down the apartment door. The man - who also lives in the unit - allegedly fired at least one round at the officers, who then fired several rounds at the man.

The man suffered injuries to his shoulder and leg that were not considered life-threatening. He was taken to a hospital, but further details on his condition were not available on Saturday.

The woman and the officers were not injured in the incident.

The man’s name has not been released.
