NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. (AP) - Officials in New Brunswick informed residents affected by a water main break in the city that the yellow, discolored water potentially flowing from their faucets doesn’t require boiling.

NJ.com reports (https://bit.ly/2hBoj94 ) the alert, posted on the northern New Jersey city’s social media accounts on Thursday, did note that citizens experiencing discoloration with their water were advised not to do laundry.

The message was specifically designed for residents living in New Brunswick’s Rutgers Village and Edgebrook neighborhoods, which were both affected by a water main break that occurred on Voorhees Road during the afternoon.
