DENVER (AP) - Authorities have released the name of a man who was shot in the hand by a Summit County sheriff’s deputy after he allegedly charged at officers with a knife.
The Denver Post reports (https://goo.gl/OTNNLM ) officers confronted 33-year-old Nathaniel Leisz in a stolen SUV in Frisco on Sunday night. Officers say he held a knife up to himself in a threatening manner and was shot in the hand when he charged at them with the weapon.
Leisz was taken into custody on several charges, including first-degree assault and aggravated motor vehicle theft. A call to the Summit County jail to determine if he has hired an attorney went unanswered Friday night.
The deputy who shot Leisz was placed on paid administrative leave and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation has been asked to investigate.
