BARSTOW, Calif. (AP) - A San Bernardino County reserve sheriff’s deputy is being treated for major injuries suffered during a search for a dirt bike rider who was missing in the Mojave Desert near Barstow.
The Sheriff’s Department says a man reported Wednesday evening that he had lost sight of his 12-year-old son while they were riding motorcycles a few miles east of Interstate 15.
During an air and ground search the reserve deputy was involved in an accident while riding an off-road vehicle around 3 a.m. Thursday.
The deputy was flown to a hospital for treatment of injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.
The missing Anaheim youth was located about 7:20 a.m. Thursday and was in good condition.
