Conor Kennedy may not fondly look “Back to December” of 2016 in the future. The ex-boyfriend of Taylor Swift was arrested in Aspen early Thursday morning for allegedly scuffling with another man in a fight outside a nightclub.
Police said the grandson of the late Robert F. Kennedy was found “rolling around on the ground” with the other man at about 1:40 a.m., People magazine reported Friday.
Mr. Kennedy punched the man in the head about four or five times before resisting an officer who tried to restrain him, according to police, People reported.
The 22-year-old has been released from custody, People reported, noting that he has not entered a plea to the charge of disorderly conduct. He’s due back in court on Feb. 22.
Mr. Kennedy’s father, environmental activist Robert F. Kennedy Jr., told the Aspen Times that his son was sticking up for a gay friend who was called a homophobic slur by another individual.
“Conor has always reacted against bullying,” Mr. Kennedy said, according to the Aspen Times. “I’m happy he stood up for his friend.”
Mr. Kennedy and Ms. Swift briefly dated in 2012, a summer fling that seemed somewhat serious given the pop star’s purchasing a home across the street from the famous Kennedy compound in Hyannis Port, Massachusetts.
Ms. Swift made off with a handsome $1 million profit on the estate after selling it early the next year, the New York Daily News reported in March 2013.
