BROOKLINE, Mass. (AP) - Police have arrested a man they say pretended to be a heating and air conditioning system maintenance worker so he could gain access to several Brookline businesses and steal from employees.

Police say 32-year-old Anthony Binsfield, of Duxbury, was arrested Wednesday after he went into a Panera restaurant but was turned away by an employee. That worker called police, who found Binsfield at another nearby restaurant allegedly pulling the scam.

He faces multiple larceny counts. It was not immediately clear if he has a lawyer who could comment on his behalf.

Lt. Philip Harrington says Binsfield has experience in HVAC repair and in each case he’d gain access to employee-only areas and rummage through personal belongings.

He’s suspected of hitting several Boston businesses in the same manner.
