CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - Police say a 53-year-old woman and her 9-year-old granddaughter were both killed as the result of a one-car crash in Clay County that left another girl with minor injuries.

The Charleston Gazette-Mail reports (https://bit.ly/2hQGu6Q) the wreck occurred Tuesday on state route 16 near the Bickmore township at about 3:30 p.m.

Deputies say Kadie Truman died at the scene and Connie Brown, who lost control of the vehicle, died Tuesday night after she was airlifted from the scene to a Charleston hospital.

The other girl traveling with their grandmother, 7-year-old Madiline Truman, received scratches and bruises.

The vehicle landed on its side. Investigators believe all three were ejected.

Authorities say both girls lived with their grandparents in Bickmore.
