IRVINGTON, N.J. (AP) - Firefighters have found the body of a man believed to be in his 60s after a fire ripped through a house in Irvington.

Essex County authorities say the blaze broke out around 11 p.m. Monday at a home on 40th street and was put out about two hours later, early Tuesday morning.

The victim’s body was found on the third floor and was badly burned. His identity hasn’t been released.

Four other adults escaped the home without injuries.

Authorities believe the wood structure was occupied by three adults on the first floor, one on the second floor and one on the third floor.

The origin and cause of the fire are under investigation.
