SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - A man wanted for theft and burglary led authorities on a 35-mile pursuit Monday that ended when he crashed into a fence near a small central Utah town, authorities said.
Jonathan Cody Smith, 23, of Magna, was taken into custody near the town of Goshen where he tried to run away after crashing his car into a fence, said Utah County Sheriff’s Sgt. Spencer Cannon.
Smith was arrested on suspicion of evading police. He also faces three other felony warrants on theft and firearm charges.
It wasn’t clear if Smith has an attorney yet. No listed phone number could be found for him.
Cannon said the pursuit began at about 9 a.m. in Saratoga Springs after Smith ran a red light in Saratoga Springs, Utah. Smith was throwing things out his car during the pursuit southbound on Redwood Road, Cannon said.
