SCRANTON, Pa. (AP) - Icy roads are the possible cause of several crashes in northeastern Pennsylvania.

Lackawanna County 911 says emergency crews responded to multiple crashes in higher elevations. A 911 supervisor says some roads were icy.

Forecasters called for slippery roads throughout most of central and eastern Pennsylvania Monday morning.

The National Weather Service warned light freezing rain could create a glaze on roads and sidewalks. A freezing rain advisory covered all of central and eastern Pennsylvania except for Philadelphia and the suburbs.

The advisory expired at 1 p.m., with temperatures expected to rise above freezing by this afternoon.
