LINDON, Utah (AP) - A boil order is being lifted for residents in the northern Utah city of Lindon after test results revealed no more E. coli in the city’s water supply.

KSL-TV reports (https://bit.ly/2hrsgND ) that city officials flushed and chlorinated water tanks after E. coli was detected on Dec. 23. The boil was lifted Monday morning after test results Sunday showed the E.coli was gone.

City residents were instructed to use boiled tap water or bottled water for drinking and cooking as a safety precaution.

The city says it will continue to take samples to prevent more contamination.

The presence of the bacteria indicates the water may have been contaminated with human or animal waste. Microbes in the waste can cause diarrhea, cramps, nausea, headaches or other symptoms.
