RENO, Nev. (AP) - The Washoe County School Board decided not to discuss a possible $25,000 performance bonus for Superintendent Traci Davis after she announced she wouldn’t accept the money.

The Reno Gazette-Journal reports (https://on.rgj.com/2hRWiao ) Davis said in a Tuesday news release she didn’t think it would be prudent to take the bonus. She says she would like the district to focus on building schools and moving forward.

Davis’ statement came hours before the board was set to meet Tuesday morning to discuss the matter.

The superintendent was to be eligible for a $25,000 performance bonus after receiving about the same amount in pay raises since she became superintendent in November 2015.

Davis’ base salary is about $250,000 and she’s eligible for up to a 10 percent performance bonus of that total each year.
