ROCHESTER, N.H. (AP) - Police and work safety officials in New Hampshire say a man operating a hydraulic lift was injured when the unit stalled and was struck by a car.
Police say 42-year-old Timothy Marquis, of Penacook, was operating the man-lift from the parking lot of the Rochester Public Library. He made a turn onto the side of South Main Street with the intent of crossing over the curb and sidewalk to perform work to the roof of the library. But it stalled, leaving the basket in a travel lane.
The car driver, 62-year-old Richard Scholl, of Rochester, tried to avoid striking the basket but was unable to. Marquis was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Scholl wasn’t hurt.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating.
