PATERSON, N.J. (AP) - Authorities say one man was killed and at least 20 people were displaced when a fast-moving fire roared through a rooming house in Paterson.
But it’s not yet known what sparked the fire in the three-story building on Park Avenue.
The fire broke out around 9 p.m. Tuesday and was finally contained around midnight. A nearby two-family home also was damaged by the blaze, but no one there was injured.
The name of the man who was killed has not been released. It wasn’t immediately clear how many people were in the rooming home when the fire started.
The displaced residents were receiving assistance from the American Red Cross.
