MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - Several families have lost their homes after a fire at an apartment complex in Southeast Memphis.

Local media outlets report that officials say the blaze Tuesday night damaged or destroyed at least 15 units at the Eastwood Park Apartments.

Memphis Fire Department spokesman Wayne Cooke says 24 residents made it safely out of the apartments before firefighters arrived. No injuries were reported.

Cooke says an electrical malfunction near the stove hood in the kitchen area of one of the units caused the fire.

The fire department estimated total damage at $304,000 for the building and contents.

The American Red Cross is providing assistance for the families who were displaced.
