GROVETOWN, Ga. (AP) - Law officers say they have one suspect in custody and are searching for another man after an armed robbery and car chase in the Augusta area.

The Augusta Chronicle reports (https://bit.ly/2ibmhbN ) that the car chase ended inside the Grovetown city limits early Tuesday.

The newspaper reports that sheriff’s deputies and police are stationed at both Grovetown Middle School and Cedar Ridge Elementary School after officers established a perimeter in the search for the remaining subject.

School superintendent Sandra Carraway says both schools have been placed on “soft lockdown,” meaning all exterior doors have been locked, though school schedules are continuing as normal.

Grovetown is about 15 miles west of Augusta.
