HAGERSTOWN, Md. (AP) - Hagerstown police say they’ve developed a “person of interest” in a fatal hit-and-run collision.

The Herald-Mail of Hagerstown reports (https://bit.ly/2h9IWsM ) police said in a statement that they aren’t releasing the person’s name because the investigation is still ongoing in the death Saturday of 24-year-old Katlyn Hughes.

Police say Hughes was fatally struck on U.S. 40 just east of the downtown area while walking home shortly before 5 a.m.

Police spokeswoman Heather Aleshire says tips from the public helped investigators find a suspect vehicle in the case.

She says police are now seeking the public’s help in finding a man who was with Hughes when she was hit. Aleshire says he fled the scene, and police would like to speak with him.
