FRISCO, Colo. (AP) - A 48-year-old Longmont man is dead after hitting a tree on an advanced run at Breckenridge Ski Resort.
The Summit Daily reports (https://goo.gl/BWDpkW ) Kevin Pitts crashed on a black run called Alpine Alley on Monday afternoon and died at a local hospital. His wife and two teenage children were with him at the resort.
Pitts, a Colorado native who grew up in Loveland, would have turned 49 on Dec. 28. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, which marks the first snow sport death in Colorado this winter season.
A spokeswoman for Vail Resorts, which owns the ski area, did not return a call for additional comment Tuesday afternoon.
