GLENDALE, Calif. (AP) - Authorities say one person was rescued when flames ripped through a large, two-story house in Glendale.
Officials say police arrived at the scene ahead of fire crews and used a neighbor’s ladder to pull one resident to safety from a second-floor balcony early Monday. Two other residents got out on their own.
The rescued person was taken to a hospital with minor injuries. Three officers who helped in the rescue were also treated for minor injuries.
Officials say firefighters were forced to take a defensive stance when the hillside home’s roof collapsed. Crews managed to keep the fire contained to the property.
The cause is under investigation.
