NEWARK, Del. (AP) - Police in Newark say they’re investigating after a driver hit a pedestrian in front of the police station and then fled.

Police say a 22-year-old man was crossing South Main Street on Monday around 1:15 p.m. when he was struck by a vehicle. Police say the man was thrown in the air and landed in the roadway. Police say the pedestrian was transported to Christiana Emergency room and is being evaluated and treated for his injuries.

Police say the vehicle, a black SUV, did not stop. Police say they are looking for the SUV, which they believe has damage to its right side.
