BALTIMORE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - Authorities say icy conditions appear to have played a role in a southwestern Michigan crash that killed a 73-year-old motorist.

WOOD-TV reports (https://bit.ly/2hID72F ) the head-on crash Saturday afternoon in Barry County’s Baltimore Township claimed the life of Robert Mayberry. Sheriff’s officials say a vehicle traveling north on M-37 went into a southbound lane to avoid a crash and struck Mayberry’s vehicle.

Mayberry was taken to a hospital, where he died.

Roads were icy after a weekend storm moved through the state.
