HOUSTON (AP) - Officials are still trying to determine the cause of a deadly carbon monoxide leak at a Houston apartment complex that killed one person and sickened eight others.

The Houston Fire Department says it evacuated the apartment complex Saturday morning after being dispatched to the scene.

While conducting a search of the complex, firefighters found a man dead in an apartment.

A cause of death for the man, whose name was not immediately released by authorities, will be confirmed by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

Eight other individuals were taken to local hospitals for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Residents of the affected building at the apartment complex were told they could not return for at least a day or two.
