RAYMOND, Maine (AP) - A land conservation group says the preservation of a 356-acre parcel in southern Maine is now complete.

The Loon Echo Land Trust says it first proposed the project along with the Raymond Conservation Commission four years ago. The project is called Raymond Community Forest and it’s located in North Raymond.

The trust says the land includes much of Pismire Mountain as well as a forested parcel alongside Crescent Lake. The land trust and partners raised $680,000 to make the purchase. The seller, Hancock Land Company, gifted about $109,000 in land value.

Raymond residents voted to spend nearly $57,000 to help complete the project.

The land will be open for hiking and other recreation.
