PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Philadelphia police say a 30-year-old man who attempted to rob an auto repair shop was shot and wounded by the shop’s owner.

Police say the man entered the shop around 6:30 p.m. Saturday and tried to rob it. The owner, who was armed, fired at the man, hitting him three times. The man is being treated at a hospital for gunshot wounds to his chest, right shoulder and buttocks.

The suspect’s condition wasn’t immediately known. His name has not been released.
