STAMFORD, Conn. (AP) - Police have arrested the driver of a van they say struck and killed a Connecticut teenager last month while she was walking to her high school to take the SAT exam.

The Stamford Police Department said it arrested 37-year-old Wilson Villa-Cabrera on Saturday morning and charged him with misconduct with a motor vehicle. He’s being held on a $50,000 bond.

Karina Tinajero-Arreguin, an 18-year-old student at Stamford High School, was hit by the van while she was crossing a street in front of the school on Nov. 5. She later died.

Police say the girl wasn’t in a crosswalk but the driver was at fault because he had adequate line of sight and road width. He’s scheduled to appear in court Tuesday. It’s not clear if he has a lawyer.
