PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Arts organizations in Rhode Island have been awarded a total of $115,000 in federal grants to support their community programs and enhance the state’s creative and cultural assets.

U.S. Sen. Jack Reed, a Rhode Island Democrat, announced that the funding from the National Endowment for the Arts was awarded to AS220, Alliance of Artists Communities, DownCity Design, Everett: Company Stage and School, New Urban Arts and Trinity Repertory Company.

They offer various programs relating to arts education, production and community development.

Reed says the grants will provide new opportunities for cultural enrichment in Rhode Island.

AS220 in Providence will receive $10,000 to support opportunities for artists to connect with underserved populations, for example. New Urban Arts, also in Providence, will receive $15,000 for arts programs for youth and teenagers.
