LOS ANGELES (AP) - The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department says an armed man was fatally shot by deputies responding to a call in East Los Angeles.
A department statement says the caller reported that someone had been shot at the location on La Verne Avenue early Saturday.
The department says two deputies encountered a man with a shotgun and fired their weapons at him.
The man was taken to a hospital where he died. His name has not been released pending notification of next of kin.
Homicide detectives are trying to determine whether someone had been shot at the residence before the deputies arrived.
