AUBURN, Ala. (AP) - Top Auburn recruit Austin Wiley has enrolled in school and will make his debut this weekend.
Tigers coach Bruce Pearl announced Friday that the five-star freshman center will play Sunday against Mercer.
Pearl says the NCAA has deemed Wiley a qualifier. He finished his high school coursework at Florida’s Conrad Academy.
The 6-foot-11, 255-pound Wiley was rated a Top 20 recruit nationally by several recruiting services. He is the son of former Auburn stars Vickie Orr and Aubrey Wiley.
Wiley averaged 22 points and 12 rebounds as a junior for Spain Park in Hoover, Alabama. He played on Team USA’s gold medal-winning team at the U17 world championships.
Wiley says he grew up hearing his parents talk about Auburn. As for the early eligibility, Wiley says: “It feels like destiny.”
