YAKIMA, Wash. (AP) - Yakima firefighters say they continue to investigate a fire at an apartment complex that killed one person and injured two others.

The Yakima Herald-Republic reports (https://goo.gl/DF5J3J) a woman told police her 3-year-old son started the fire at the Mesa Apartment complex Friday in the bedroom of a unit. Capt. Jeff Pfaff told the newspaper that investigators haven’t had time to fully investigate that claim.

The fire burned in a single apartment at the complex. Smoke spread to another apartment where three occupants were brought out through a window by firefighters.

Authorities say a 46-year-old woman who was pulled from the building died Sunday at a Seattle hospital. The woman’s name has not been released.

Pfaff says a man, who was her husband, and their young granddaughter, have been released from medical care.
