FALL RIVER, Mass. (AP) - Massachusetts State Police have identified two Rhode Island men killed by a crash on state Route 24 in Fall River.
Police on Monday identified the driver as 36-year-old Joseph Burnham and the passenger as 23-year-old Laurence Wheeler, both of Providence. They said no further information was available.
A preliminary investigation by state police showed the vehicle was traveling northbound in Fall River on Sunday when it veered off the right side of the roadway and hit a tree.
The two were taken to Charlton Memorial Hospital where they were pronounced dead. Another passenger was taken to Rhode Island Hospital.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
